Anders says that he enjoys working a lot outside in all weathers, especially exciting to work in different places. He cuts and maintains lawns from the Swedish border to Elverum, as well as the Kongsvinger area and all the way to Hamar (large areas). This means that the job suits me perfectly, Anders mentions.
Expectations
Anders' expectations were that there was going to be a lot of mowing, planting and other maintenance that a ground worker does. Positively surprised by how flexible the workplace is, that there is room to manage the working day more even as long as the work is done in a good way.
Landscaping Arnesen AS
We have 45 employees in production, plus a small administration. Landscape gardener Arnesen is owned by Trond and Mari Arnesen, who also own Elverum Hagesenter together.
We constantly have apprentices, and several of our apprentices are still with the company.
Typical working day
A typical working day for Anders is driving to where he is going to work, putting up signs to notify that one is working for both traffic and pedestrians. After he has finished maintaining the lawn and plants and more, Anders drives to the next assignment. Here there are several things you have to think about as a landscape gardener, this could be mowing the lawn and/or tending flowers. When such work is carried out along the road, the traffic pattern must be taken into account and warning signs must be used. This is so that cars, cyclists and pedestrians pay attention. It therefore often pays to work in the evening/night when there are few passers-by and traffic.
The process from job applicant to employment
The process from when I applied for a job to employment went quickly, it took about 3-4 days from application, interview and to the job, Anders became my narrator. He was kept up-to-date throughout the process and there was a low threshold for asking questions to the adviser in the process, Anders says.
